Why I Call It Little a Art
A Personal Story About Creativity, Courage, and the Quiet Power of Making Things
I am "Little a."
It started as a playful nickname from my granddad and family — a sweet shorthand for someone a little quiet, a little creative, a little different. I didn't think much of it at first. But over time, that lowercase "a" began to take on deeper meaning, especially in relation to my art.
I've always made things. Small things.
Sketches, doodles, watercolors — spontaneous creations that were more about the process than perfection. But for a long time, I didn’t feel like a “real” artist. I thought artists made bold statements, had galleries, followers, careers. Me? I was just Little a — creating quietly on the sidelines.
But then I realized:
Small, quiet, imperfect things are still art.
And in those little moments of making, I began to find courage — and myself.
That’s where Little a Art comes in.

It’s a name that honors the humble, tender, often-unseen acts of creativity that mean everything to the person making them. It’s a reminder that you don’t have to be loud or grand to be meaningful. There is power in starting small — and beauty in staying small, too.
This space is for the artists still finding their voice, still figuring it out — like I am. If you’re creating in the margins of a busy life, wondering if your work “counts,” I see you. Your art matters.
I also believe deeply in supporting artists. When you support an independent creator, you’re doing more than buying something — you’re validating the act of creation. You’re saying that art matters. That your art matters.
So Little a Art is my offering to the world — a space to share the quiet magic of creation. Whether it’s a small painting, a poem, a sketch, or just a fleeting idea, this is my corner to celebrate the power of making.
And if you’re a fellow creative:
Keep going.
Even the little kind counts.
With love,
Little a
